Summary

You are cordially invited to the wedding of Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo。

The Death Star is destroyed。 Darth Vader is dead。 The Empire is desolated。 But on the forest moon of Endor, amongst the chaos of a changing galaxy, time stands still for a princess and her scoundrel。

After being frozen in carbonite, then risking everything for the Rebellion, Han is eager to stop living his life for other people。 He and Leia have earned their future together, a thousand times over。 And when he proposes to Leia, it's the first time in a long time he's had a good feeling about this。 For Leia, a lifetime of fighting doesn't truly seem over。 There is work still to do, penance to pay for the dark secret she now knows runs through her veins。 Her brother, Luke, is offering her that chance -- one that comes with family and the promise of the Force。 But when Han asks her to marry him, Leia finds her answer immediately on her lips 。 。 。 Yes

But happily ever after doesn't come easily。 As soon as Han and Leia depart their idyllic ceremony on Endor for their honeymoon, they find themselves on the grandest and most glamorous stage of all: the Halcyon, a luxury vessel on a very public journey to the most wondrous worlds in the galaxy。 Their marriage, and the peace and prosperity it represents, is a lightning rod for everyone in the galaxy -- including Imperial remnants still clinging to power。

Facing their most desperate hour, the soldiers of the Empire have dispersed across the galaxy, retrenching on isolated worlds vulnerable to their influence。 As the Halcyon travels from world to world, one thing becomes abundantly clear: The war is not over。 But as danger draws closer, Han and Leia find that they fight their best battles not alone but as husband and wife。

Han and Leia are adorable and Beth Revis completely nailed their characters。 I loved this book, even though sometimes I found it a bit confusing with so many characters (but that’s my fault as it’s only my second Star Wars book)。

A really great addition to the canon。 Loved getting to spend this time with Han and Leia, and loved how this book pulled together threads from some of the other expanded media。

one of my fave leia stories in terms of character exploration, all about allowing yourself to feel joy amidst loss and sacrifice。 loved it :)

Well, bummer。 Essentially acting as the new canon’s version of Dave Wolverton’s much acclaimed “The Courtship of Princess Leia,” “The Princess and the Scoundrel” is a competently executed, but ultimately disappointingly shallow plotting of one of the key post-“Return of the Jedi” events within “Star Wars” lore: Han and Leia’s wedding。 To her credit, author Beth Revis’ prose is rarely unengaging, and for “Star Wars” fans dying to see Disney’s take on such a consequential narrative moment, it’s ha Well, bummer。 Essentially acting as the new canon’s version of Dave Wolverton’s much acclaimed “The Courtship of Princess Leia,” “The Princess and the Scoundrel” is a competently executed, but ultimately disappointingly shallow plotting of one of the key post-“Return of the Jedi” events within “Star Wars” lore: Han and Leia’s wedding。 To her credit, author Beth Revis’ prose is rarely unengaging, and for “Star Wars” fans dying to see Disney’s take on such a consequential narrative moment, it’s hard to imagine too many feeling outright angry by how certain elements are handled here。 Still, though – it’s hard not to compare this to Wolverton’s original take on the story, which by all accounts felt significantly more engaging and – most importantly – MEANINGFUL, both in terms of the broader “Star Wars” story and on a purely romantic and character-based level。 “The Princess and the Scoundrel” isn’t BAD, per se…but it is disappointing。 And in some ways, that’s kind of worse。 。。。more

Fun to see a bit more “behind-the-scenes” of Leia and Han and how they’re dealing with the fallout of the end of the Empire, but the plot is a bit generic and at times slow。

I listened to this book via Audible。The Princess and the Scoundrel is perhaps the most direct sequel we've seen to Return of the Jedi (in the new Disney canon), starting immediately after the celebrations of the film and showing what happened next to Han and Leia。 Spoiler - they get married!Beth Revis perfectly captures the dynamics of the scruffy-looking nerf herder and her worshipfulness, making it feel as if you've stepped back in time to watch a younger Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher perfor I listened to this book via Audible。The Princess and the Scoundrel is perhaps the most direct sequel we've seen to Return of the Jedi (in the new Disney canon), starting immediately after the celebrations of the film and showing what happened next to Han and Leia。 Spoiler - they get married!Beth Revis perfectly captures the dynamics of the scruffy-looking nerf herder and her worshipfulness, making it feel as if you've stepped back in time to watch a younger Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher performing on the page。 I grinned and laughed so many times listening to their witty banter and clear affection for one another - it was fantastic! The adventure itself is a perfect Star Wars tale - Han and Leia get hitched and go off on their honeymoon, but even though the Emperor is dead (or so we all think), the Empire hasn't gotten the memo that it's been defeated。 Suddenly you're in the midst of a planetary crisis that only two heroes of the Rebellion could possibly solve, and the pieces fall into place。This is a fun addition to our favorite galaxy far, far away。 It's Han and Leia in their prime, fighting with one another while they save the day。 If you're looking for an enjoyable Star Wars read, you've come to the right place! 。。。more

“Leia fractured herself for everyone – the strong warrior for the Rebellion, the savvy politician for the Senate, the gracious leader for the people。 But she was whole in front of him, multifaceted, and sometimes, cracked, but whole。 He had to love the whole of her, or nothing at all。 That was the way of it with Leia – all or nothing。 He chose all。”The Princess and the Scoundrel is a romance novel set in the Star Wars universe and it follows the saga's most iconic couple, Han Solo and Leia Organ “Leia fractured herself for everyone – the strong warrior for the Rebellion, the savvy politician for the Senate, the gracious leader for the people。 But she was whole in front of him, multifaceted, and sometimes, cracked, but whole。 He had to love the whole of her, or nothing at all。 That was the way of it with Leia – all or nothing。 He chose all。”The Princess and the Scoundrel is a romance novel set in the Star Wars universe and it follows the saga's most iconic couple, Han Solo and Leia Organa。 In this book we get to see their wedding on Endor, their honeymoon on board the luxury yacht Halcyon and how, as it always does with this two, their romantic holiday turns into a mission against injustice and evil。Han and Leia are very important to me both as individual characters and a couple, and Beth Revis impressed me with her previous Star Wars novel, Rebel Rising, so I was excited for this book。 I had some qualms with it, but overall I was very happy with the book。Stuff I really enjoyed:- The characterisation of Han and Leia。 Revis captured the voices of the characters really well and I could hear Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford's voices in my head as I read their lines。 The characters had some interesting personal arcs in the story。 Leia is dealing with so many things - finding out Luke is her brother and Vader is her father, knowing the war is far from over despite the Emperor's death, learning to trust others and be more of a team player, finding out that she can use the Force and could be trained as a Jedi。。。 The girl is really going through a lot, and I loved how Revis explored her character。 All the stuff with her and the Force and her family was especially great。 Han, on the other hand, is dealing with the fact that he lost a year of his life to carbonate freezing and that his motivations in life are changing: he is thinking of settling down (at least in his own way), making a home, perhaps having children。。。 Our two leads had a joined arc as a couple, but they were strong as individuals too。- The romance of Han and Leia was very well done。 Revis nailed the balance between their friendly and sometimes less-friendly arguing and bickering, and the deep connection, trust and bond that they have, that has been built on years of knowing one another and a love that surprised both of them。 As a Han/Leia shipper, this book was a blast to read。 Their wedding was beautiful, moving and all the stuff that took place before it with Han's bachelor party and all that, was a delight。 - The exploration of this time period as a whole。 The Emperor is dead, the Empire's greatest weapon has been destroyed and Darth Vader is no more。 But that does not mean the war is won。 I like how this book explored all the things that the Rebellion, now the victors, must face: they must convince the galaxy of their victory, take down the last imperial cells, establish a new government, handle the impending economic disaster, make new allies and so many other things。 I appreciate how the books and comics have shown that the celebration ROTJ ended in wasn't how it panned out: winning a war is not that simple and so much must be done after to make sure the hard-won peace is kept。 I also enjoyed how, using the Halcyon and its passengers, Revis explores the views civilians and the people who were neutral in the war have on the Empire's fall - some see it as merely a shift in power, some grieve, some are angry and some are happy, but most of them just don't care cause the Empire's atrocities do not concern them。 There's a lot on this book about the idea that remaining neutral in a conflicts like this one is, essentially, siding with the oppressor。- The connections to other SW material。 Revis made a lot of connections with the current Star Wars flagship comic by Charles Soule (she referenced Qi'ra a lot which was awesome since I love Qi'ra) and she also tied her story to some stories that were published a long while ago such as the comic Shattered Empire and the Smuggler's Run novel。 I really enjoyed those easter eggs。- Though he only appears in the beginning, I loved how Revis wrote Luke。 The twins have some amazing scenes and it was cool to see how different they can be, for example, in how they view their father。 I also loved how Revis showed how Han and Leia see and think of the change that has happened in Luke after he became a knight and learned of his parentage: he has become more somber, calm, melancholic even。 Leia thinking how lonely Luke must be as the last of the jedi made me rather emotional as Luke is my everything, my main man and my sweetest son。 Stuff I had some issues with:- The first third or so of the book on Endor was a delight and I loved it so much。 When the story moves to the Halcyon was when some issues started to show up。 I enjoy the Halcyon as a location and the way Revis used the passengers to explore the state of the galaxy, but the problem for me with the Halcyon was that none of the characters there stood up to me as individuals。 They all kinda felt like they were just there to say something about the galaxy or this conflict, not to be a memorable, individual character。 As a reader who is definitely more of a character than a plot-focused reader, this definitely posed some issues。 I had the same problem in the last third of the book, set on this ice moon: none of the characters stood out and I fear that in a week or two, I won't even be able to name most of them。- The mystery Han and Leia uncover on this moon was very standard。 I feel like I've read quite a few SW stories about strange stations and (view spoiler)[ imperials destroying planets through irresponsible mining。 (hide spoiler)] It didn't wow me, unfortunately, but it also wasn't bad。 It was just alright。- The finale, the fight, at the end was a bit too rushed。 I know this book is not about the wars in the stars as much as it is about romance - it is a love story and all about Han and Leia learning to become a married couple, a team - but I wished Revis would've given the battle a bit more time。I had a good time with this book。 If you ship Han and Leia, I highly recommend it。 It might seem like a fluffy story with not much substance based on the pitch, but it is definitely more than just Han and Leia's wedding and honeymoon on the Halcyon。 We dive really deep into these characters, who they are, what they want, how they have grown and what they are to each other。 The Halcyon being in the book didn't feel like just an advertisement for the real-life hotel experience - it is that too, of course, but it also has its part to play in the exploration of some of the bigger themes in the novel, such as neutrality in war and what it means。 The writing is good and enjoyable to read, and overall, I just had a good time。 。。。more

Ok this might be one of my new favorite SW books。 Definitely in the top 5。 Way more than just a “honeymoon story”, though if you ever expected that’s all this would be…you might want to rethink what you know about Han and Leia。

The first 1/3 of the books is nigh on perfect。 The rest of the book is still enjoyable but I was not invested in the story。 Han and Leia are great throughout, though, and kept me going。 The book also seems like it's setting up to bring some old Legends stories into Canon, so that's exciting。 The first 1/3 of the books is nigh on perfect。 The rest of the book is still enjoyable but I was not invested in the story。 Han and Leia are great throughout, though, and kept me going。 The book also seems like it's setting up to bring some old Legends stories into Canon, so that's exciting。 。。。more

I love this book。 The characters leap off the page into Harrison and Carrie's voices in my head。 There's some fun stuff with Luke and the Ewoks, then Han and Leia embark on their honeymoon--but of course, being Han and Leia, they manage to find trouble anyway。This book is very character driven, with the action coming mostly at the end, but the character stuff is delightful, and I suspect had I lived down the street from Beth Revis growing up (in a world where we're about the same age, I'm pretty I love this book。 The characters leap off the page into Harrison and Carrie's voices in my head。 There's some fun stuff with Luke and the Ewoks, then Han and Leia embark on their honeymoon--but of course, being Han and Leia, they manage to find trouble anyway。This book is very character driven, with the action coming mostly at the end, but the character stuff is delightful, and I suspect had I lived down the street from Beth Revis growing up (in a world where we're about the same age, I'm pretty sure she's younger), she'd have been right there with me building pools for my rebel action figures so they could have fun at a pool party for once too。 (IDK, I guess tiny me thought Luke needed more water in his life?)Which is to say, come for the characters, stay for the world building and the adventure found at the end。。。 :) 。。。more

Rating is closer to 2 and a half。 It wasn’t a bad read, I just felt it cruised a lot of the way。 I feel like the characterisation of Han wasn’t quite there, and it was very repetitive with certain phrasing/thoughts。 All in all, a decent read for a book clearly promoted to hype up Halycon @ Disney + we got gorgeous artwork for the cover

I’m a sucker for Star Wars, and this was a fun Star Wars story so it gets an easy 4。 Might be a tiny bit generous but it was still fun。I think the biggest thing that a lot of Star Wars fans will get stuck on is Han doesn’t feel like Han。 He feels like a boring, generic hero who is just there to be the boring, generic man who help the princess obtain her goal。 He isn’t brash or reckless, he isn’t really scared of commitment, he isn’t really brimming with roguish energy。 He just kinda exists。 He d I’m a sucker for Star Wars, and this was a fun Star Wars story so it gets an easy 4。 Might be a tiny bit generous but it was still fun。I think the biggest thing that a lot of Star Wars fans will get stuck on is Han doesn’t feel like Han。 He feels like a boring, generic hero who is just there to be the boring, generic man who help the princess obtain her goal。 He isn’t brash or reckless, he isn’t really scared of commitment, he isn’t really brimming with roguish energy。 He just kinda exists。 He does “typical man thing A” and “typical man thing B” like not wanting to leave bed because he just wants sex and “all I want is food right now”。 It doesn’t really… feel like Han that much。 And it was a weird feeling for sure to read a book about Han where the author kinda missed entirely on the character of Han。Leia she nailed, but really only the annoying parts of her post wedding。 After those perfect first couple of chapters with the wedding, and Luke, and Leia’s thoughts about the force and Vader, it all just devolves into her being selfish and not giving Han a second thought。 That is… until the author specifically makes Leia say “oh no I’m being a bad wife, but it’s for what I think is best so it’s okay”。 Which yeah Leia does but not to the insane degree she’s portrayed in this book。 It was fun。 It was a good Star Wars story。 I liked it。Not so much love for Han and Leia but it was still good, 7/10✌🏻 Andrew 。。。more

3。5 Stars- Honestly, the book is just a delight。 A very low stakes, heart warming Star Wars tale that really gives us some Han and Leia alone time。 Not a lot of Star Wars stories pick up immediately after the events of a movie, and it was a joy picking up right at the end of the Return of the Jedi, Ewoks and all!
